Former attorney general of Delaware Joseph “Beau” Biden III the son of Joseph Biden the Vice President of the United States died on Saturday after losing a courageous battle against brain cancer said the VP in a prepared statement.
The U.S. Vice President said the entire Biden family could not express their sadness. We know the spirit of Beau will live amongst us, especially through Hallie his brave wife and their two remarkable children Hunter and Natalie.
Beau Biden, who was 46, was hospitalized earlier in May and died Saturday evening while surrounded by his entire family, said the office of the Vice President.
Biden was diagnosed in August 2013 with brain cancer, and underwent what doctors called a successful surgery and treatment with chemotherapy.
However, a recurrence hit Beau this spring.
Vice President Biden said his son Beau had embodied his father’s saying that a father knows his success when his son or daughter turns out better than he did. He called Beau the finest man anyone in the family had ever known.
From 2007 through the end of 2014, Beau was the Delaware attorney general. He also joined the Army National Guard from Delaware in 2003 where he was a major and awarded a Bronze Star. He served a year in Iraq with the National Guard.
In 2014, Biden decided not to run for his third term as the attorney general and said he wanted to run for the 2016 Governor.
President Obama and the First Lady both were grieving. He called Beau a friend. Like his father, Beau was a big-hearted, good, devout Catholic and deeply faithful who was able to make a big difference in all the lives of those he touched, said President Obama.
Hillary Clinton the Democratic presidential candidate said she was heartbroken over the death of Beau Biden. She said he was a fine man who served with devotion and lived his life with great courage.
Biden was born in Delaware and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Syracuse University law degree.
He is survived by Hallie his wife, and their two children Hunter and Natalie, his parents Joseph Biden and Dr. Jill Biden, Hunter Biden his brother, and his sister Ashley Biden.
